Typographic Eyes
Zooey Deschanel has the most brilliant eyes and bone structure. I didn't get very far on this in class, but I believe that this was a great start!

Google, now an online art gallery?
As recently noted by the NY Times, Google began on a project called The Google Art Project. This project is a way for the public web to experience galleries and select pieces through the comfort of their own homes. In my opinion, as great as this project may be, I do not believe that the reality of the grandeur and existence of many of the pieces may be experienced through a mere computer screen. It is somewhat like a textbook---as much as one may learn about a piece, one must encounter a piece, one on one, to truly experience a piece of art.
A personal experience that backs up my belief is my own firsthand encounters with Marcel Duchamp's piece, Nude Descending A Staircase. For years, I learned about the use of color, shape, space, etc. of Duchamp's piece, and it was not until I saw this piece in person at the Philadelphia Museum of Art that I could truly come into contact with a piece so influential in the art world and my own portfolio. To date, every time that I see this piece, my eyes automatically tear up (yes, I know that this is weird and sounds common to Stendhal syndrome, a psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to art or immense beauty in the natural world). Because of examples such as this and multiple other reasons, I do not believe that this 'online gallery' is a completely perfect way to experience the art the way that they were originally meant to be perceived.
